How To Manage Dry Skin

I have dry and sensitive skin and it requires a lot of moisture and oils to maintain my skin. Having dry skin means that you have to be selective with the products you choose to apply to your skin,if you suffer from dry skin it does not mean that your skin has to remain dry. There are certain lifestyle changes you can make and products you can use to minimise damage.

Symptoms of Dry Skin

Dry skin can be uncomfortable and frustrating to deal with, whether it’s causing you itchiness, soreness, or you just can’t get your makeup to sit properly on your face. Although the symptoms can be different for everyone, the following could be signs that your skin isn’t getting enough hydration:

  • Peeling, flaking, or scaling

  • Dark under-eye circles

  • Cracked skin

  • Rough Skin

  • Cracked Lips

 

If your skin remains dry for a long time it loses some of its natural elasticity and turns to visible skin problems, such as wrinkles and stretch marks, eczema, and rashes.

There are many causes of dry skin mainly decreased moisture on the skin and the appearance of your skin can be affected, you may start to notice some of the symptoms listed including:

Tips for Preventing Dry Skin

Preventing dry skin involves adopting a consistent skincare routine to keep your skin hydrated and healthy. Here are some tips to help you :


1. Apply Moisturiser Straight after a bath or shower moisturise your body and face. When the skin is still damp it locks in moisture more

​2. Use a deep Moisturiser To ensure you’re giving your skin the moisture it needs, try a deep moisturising cream like Shea Butter or Cocoa Butter. Also making your moisturiser from home is beneficial for dry skin. Check out my blog "How To Make Body Butter"

4. Gentle Soaps And Shower gels. Avoid soaps with harsh chemicals such as parabens and sulfates opt for a more natural option Use soaps and shower gels that contain added moisture.

​5. Facial And Body Oil For an added dose of luxury in the winter months, facial oil is a fantastic way to relieve dry skin and seal it in moisture. Try layering this rich nourishing face oil for dull and dehydrated skin over your other skincare products to leave your face feeling extra smooth.

​6. Always Protect Your Skin With Sunscreen include in your skincare routine for dry skin. Apply a Sunscreen designed specifically for dry skin containing ingredients that help to hydrate and nourish your skin and leave your skin soft and moisturised while offering a good amount of sun protection.
